Insulating mattresses

INSULFLEX insulating blankets are custom-made in our Brindas workshop in the Lyon region. They limit heat loss from equipment exposed to operating temperatures ranging from 10°C to 1300°C, while protecting operators from the risk of burns.

These thermal protections are installed to complement or replace traditional lagging when equipment requires it (complex geometry, vibrating equipment, etc.) or to facilitate maintenance operations (easily dismantled and reassembled).

Concept / Technique

INSULFLEX insulating mats are made up of :

  • An envelope made of a technical fabric chosen according to the equipment's operating conditions and environment (indoor, outdoor, ATEX zone, clean room, need for mechanical resistance, etc.).
  • A flexible insulating lining of a thickness and type suited to the equipment's operating temperatures.
  • A fastening system that ensures that the insulating mattresses stay in place and are easy to assemble and disassemble:
    - Velcro-type fasteners
    - buckles and straps
    - ratchets and lacing
    - eyelets and turnstiles
    - ...
  • The complex is sewn together with a thread suitable for operating temperatures.
  • An identification label on each mattress to identify the different markings for easier installation.
  • Mattress drawings are produced using 3D software (SolidWorks).

Materials used

Each insulating mattress is custom-made and therefore unique.

Our technicians define the materials to be used in response to a given problem, taking into account operating temperatures, mechanical constraints and the environment (clean room, ATEX, weather, etc.).

Our range of materials covers operating temperatures from 10°C to 1300°C.

Fabrics

  • Polyester fabric with PVC, PU coatings
  • Unbleached or silicone-coated glass fabric, PTFE, aluminum strap coating
  • Aramid fabrics with silicone coating, PTFE
  • Steel-reinforced glass fabrics to meet mechanical constraints
  • Silica fabrics and steel-reinforced silica for high temperatures
  • Fabrics, knits, metallic felts
  • Alumina fabrics type NEXTEL 312 and 440 for extreme temperatures

Insulation

  • Density between 10 and 160 kg/m3 depending on requirements
  • Mineral fibers: glass wool, rock wool for their thermal resistance
  • Twin-wall foams for enhanced thermal and acoustic absorption
  • SUPERWOOL BLANKET biosoluble fibers for high temperatures
  • Microporous to cope with high temperatures and space constraints.
